- (Optional) Back up the Flex SDK by copying the entire directory.In Flash Builder, for example, copy the directory at:
- Windows: C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Builder 4.7/sdks/4.6.0
- Mac OS: /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7/sdks/4.6.0
- Download the appropriate AIR SDK file for your operating system from http://www.adobe.com/products/air/sdk/, and save it to the root directory of the Flex SDK.
- Windows: AdobeAIRSDK.zip
- Mac OS: AdobeAIRSDK.dmg
- Extract the contents of the AIR SDK archive and overwrite the existing SDK files.
- Windows: Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All, or use a decompression tool of your choice.
- Mac OS: In Terminal, run these commands:
- hdiutil attach AdobeAIRSDK.dmg
- cp -rf /Volumes/AIR SDK/* /path-to-empty-FLEXSDK-directory
- If you have trouble overwriting files due to file permissions, try these commands:
- sudo hdiutil attach AdobeAIRSDK.dmg
- sudo cp -rf /Volumes/AIR SDK/* /path-to-empty-FLEXSDK-directory
- (Optional) To access the new AIR 3.4 APIs, update your application descriptor file to the 3.4 namespace.To update the namespace, change the xmlns attribute in your application descriptor to: <application xmlns='http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.4'>
- (Optional) To ensure that the output SWF file targets SWF version 17, pass an additional compiler argument: -swf-version=17.For detailed instructions, see this article.
Before you begin:
Download and install the following: - Install Adobe Flash Builder 4.7.
- Download the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR.
- In the folder where you downloaded the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR, open the BlackBerry-AIR-SDK-Installer-<version>-<Operating System>-<timestamp> file.
- On the Introduction screen, click Next.
- Read the license agreement. If you agree, click Next.
- On the Integration choice screen, do not select either checkbox. Click Next.Even though there is the option to integrate with Flash Builder, this is for Flash Builder 4.6. Do not select the Flash Builder checkbox.
- On the Choose Install Folder screen, provide the location of the parent folder where you want to install the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR. A new folder called blackberry-tablet-sdk-<version> is created at this location. Click Next.

Delete the adt.jar file
This section provides a workaround for a known issue with Flash Builder 4.7 and the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR.(262922)
When trying to publish your application using Flash Builder 4.7, you may encounter the following error:
To solve this issue, you must to delete the adt.jar file from the SDK installation folder. This will force the packaging tool to use the adt.jar file provided with Flash Builder 4.7, and will validate namespace 3.4 valid.
- Navigate to the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR installation directory.

The deployment setup wizard
The BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR integrates a deployment setup wizard in Adobe Flash Builder that guides you through setting up your development environment to create applications and deploy them to a BlackBerry tablet. You can use the deployment setup wizard to do the following:
- Connect to the BlackBerry Tablet Simulator to test and debug your application.
- Connect to a BlackBerry tablet and install debug tokens to test and debug your application.
- Configure your computer to sign your applications before you deploy them.
